Dance Recital
Ladybug's first dance recital was a few weeks ago. We were not too sure how she would do since she was still not wanting to go into class by herself. Turns out she is just like her mom!
Dress rehersal was on Tuesday night and she was excited but a little hesitant to go backstage (she was all ready for her turn right after she watched me dance). My goal for this year was to get her on stage and not crying - she went on stage with out hesitating and although she did not actually dance that night she didn't cry, she also didn't want to come off of stage!
Friday night she was so excited that she let me put curlers in her hair. Here is before,

And after, Ladybug is all girl! She loved the process of getting ready! No stage pictures from Friday night but she did awesome, went on stage and danced, no tears at all (from Ladybug at least).
Saturday night we were really getting the hang of it and Ladybug decided she was going to dance with me (and is still dancing around the house with my hat).
Here she is all ready to go and proud of herself. Looks like we are in for many more years of dance recitals (Chris is so thrilled).

I had forgotten how much work it is on dance recital night but loved every minute of it, many thanks to my mom for doing this for me for so many years (I don't know how many she got me ready before I was doing it myself).
I also forgot how much I love being on stage too! Maybe I can get back into dance in the next few years.

Recipe Friday - Roasted Broccoli
We have signed up for a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) this year and I am excited about the fresh produce we have been receiving. I am enjoying being able to show Ladybug fresh foods that we may otherwise not get at the store and having to be creative in preparing it. Chris is not the most adventurous eater and really doesn't like vegetables, I have created quite the challenge for myself. The first week we received turnips (and greens), broccoli, lettuce, spinach, rosemary and thyme. I did not realize how much of an education this would be for my family as Chris looked in the box and said 'no one in this house eats radishes' - 'Those are turnips Honey'.
Anyways back to the recipe - Getting Chris and Ladybug to eat Broccoli, otherwise known as Roasted Broccoli
1 head of Broccoli cut into 'trees'
olive oil or coconut oil (about 2 tablespoons)
4-5 cloves of garlic, minced or sliced depending on preference
salt
Pepper
Toss everything together and spread on baking pan. Roast at 350 for 25-30 minutes.
I knew this was a keeper when there was barely any left for dinner after Chris kept walking through the kitchen and eating it off of the pan!

Nursing Clothes
With Easter less than a week away I have been thinking about getting myself a new dress for Easter. Of course I got the girls each a new 'Easter' dress, but I haven't gotten a new one in a few years so I thought it was time. Now this presents a problem since Samantha is only 3 months old and I'm nursing her. I started looking for a nursing dress online - just to see what's out there. Here's the problem. Why are all the nursing dresses maternity dresses (tops too)? You would think that common sense would tell the designers that if I want a nursing dress then I am no longer pregnant - I mean this seems pretty obvious to me. If I'm currently nursing then I've recently had a baby therefore don't need something to make look like I'm still pregnant. You could take this the other way to although there are those lucky mothers who can nurse all the way through their pregnancy with out losing supply.
So would it be to much to ask for a nice regular sized dress that has easy nursing access? Right now I'm stuck looking for a wrap dress or loose v-neck because I would really like to look nice and have a new dress for Easter.

The Girls
Ladybug and Butterbean are starting to interact with one another (as opposed to Ladybug smothering Butterbean with 'lovin').
Butterbean used to cry whenever Ladybug would hold her, which did not bother Ladybug at all. In fact she figured out that a thumb was a easy way to quiet Butterbean.
Helping Butterbean 'play'
Watching a movie
Ladybug has continued our bedtime tradition of reading and has decided that she will be the one to read to Butterbean. I think Butterbean enjoyed it.
I think this has to be one of the greatest joys of being a parent of two - watching your children interact with one another and love on each other (even though sometimes love takes the form of hitting). I love watching Butterbean's eyes light up when she sees Ladybug.
